DIY Tutorial – How to make a no-sew, cheap, wipeable Bib!

DIY - How to make cheap bibs from a tablecloth! This is brilliant! You can make them large enough for older kids for messy art projects too!

I have a messy toddler. No surprise, right? I’m pretty sure those two words go hand in hand.

My youngest, who is not yet 2 1/2, tends to put more food on herself than in her belly. :-) I’m pretty sure she’s going to be an artist someday and this is her way of practicing with different artistic mediums.

Yes, they sell “toddler” sized bibs because manufacturers realize it’s not only babies that are messy. However, have you see the price? I like to have quite a few bibs around for easy access. One in my purse, the diaper bad, in the kitchen…hey, why not even have a few at grandma’s house? :-)

That can add up pretty quickly. Then you spend money on a nice bib and you want to make sure you don’t leave it behind at a park, picnic, restaurant etc.

I found a super simple solution!

I picked up a 52″ square, vinyl tablecloth at a discount store for $3. (Any size will work, but with this size I am able to make about 6-8 bibs).  Do the math. That’s $0.38-$0.50 a bib! :-)

You can make one bib in about 5 minutes (less once you have the pattern drawn and can trace it).

These wipe up so well. You can make them as large or small as you want. I wanted one that was larger than most sizes they sell in the stores to cover more of my toddlers clothes. They are so easy to make and affordable you won’t worry if one is accidentally left behind somewhere either. :-)

These would also be great for making “covers” (we won’t call them bibs for the older kids) for older kids to keep their clothes clean during messy art projects if you don’t want to spend money on an apron. :-)
